Fabricista Fashion Challenge
Challenge 2 was announced and started yesterday. The timing of this a bit odd, in that we are supposed to start on Challenge 2, but one of us is going to be eliminated by Challenge 1.
The next challenge is to use the Salme Dress pattern that has been selected for us, and create a
unique garment that reflects our personality. We can alter the pattern or add
to the patterns to make it more us. We have to think of one or two words that describe ourselves to inspire our look. We will be judged on creativity, craftsmanship, fit, and how well represented the description words are in our design, and difficulty.

It also looks a lot like the COlette macaron

Also strongly echoes McCalls 6460, sans skirt! All originality is imitation...
ReplyDeleteIt is so much like Sewaholic one! This Salme pattern is almost identical to the Colette Macaron pattern. I started this challenge already and it's a simplified version of it (I've made the colette pattern a number of times but never the Sewaholic one). But what's really nice it that the pattern is sooo basic you can do almost anything with it!! :) I cannot wait to see everyone's work... it will awful to see one of us go this week as I want to see everyone's work every week!
ReplyDeleteCollette's got a similar style as well. I don't think it's intentional, the sweetheart neckline is is just a really commonly used style. Or maybe I just feel that because I know three chicks that are mad about them. XD
ReplyDeleteRan across your recreation challenge on Fabric Mart, wow, what a wonderful way to create from unconventional to make wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you do with this pattern. I am imagining a change to the skirt - longer and straighter. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI saw a lot of similarities between the macaron and this dress as well. It can be so cute and has a lot of room for personalization. I wish all 10 of us could continue to the end, but of course that isn't the point of the contest.
